Pancreas and kidneys

Uncontrolled diabetes can damage many tissues of the body, including the kidneys. Kidney damage caused by diabetes most often involves thickening and hardening of the small arteries in the kidney. Strict blood sugar control may delay the progression of kidney disease, particularly in type 1 diabetics.
